Legal
Terms & Conditions
These terms govern every purchase made through ceylonvault.org. By placing an order, you agree to them.
1. Who you are dealing with
Ceylon Vault is not an incorporated company. The site is operated by an individual trader, Jagath Chaminda Wijaya Bandara (Waththa Inna Kanda, Ayagama, Sri Lanka, 70024), trading as “Ceylon Vault.” References to “we,” “us,” or “Ceylon Vault” mean the proprietor trading under that name.
Licensing status: a National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) Gem Dealers Licence and Export Development Board (EDB) exporter registration are pending and not yet issued. This section will be updated with licence and registration numbers once obtained.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding contract to place an order. By ordering, you confirm both.
3. Authenticity and certification
Every stone we sell is natural unless the listing states otherwise, and any treatment (most commonly heat treatment) is disclosed on the listing. Certificates are issued by independent laboratories — among them NGJA, GIA, GIC, SSEF, GRS, and Gübelin — and travel with the stone. Natural inclusions and minor variation in colour or texture are characteristics of a natural gemstone, not defects. We encourage independent verification of any certificate before or after purchase.
4. Pricing and currency
Listed prices are set and invoiced in US dollars. Other currencies shown on the site are for reference only, calculated at an indicative exchange rate that may differ from the rate applied by your bank or card issuer at the time of payment. Prices are subject to change without notice until an order is confirmed; confirmed orders are honoured at the price shown at checkout.
5. Orders and payment
An order is confirmed only once payment has been received in full through our payment processor (PayPal). We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order — including after payment — if a stone is unavailable, a listing contained a pricing error, or we reasonably suspect fraud; in that case any payment already taken will be refunded in full.
6. Shipping and delivery
Shipping, delivery timing, customs and duty responsibility, and risk of loss are set out in full in our Shipping & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
7. Returns and refunds
Our return window, refund process, and the categories of stone that are non-returnable are set out in full in our Return & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
8. Anti-money laundering and customer due diligence
Dealers in precious stones are a regulated category under Sri Lanka's Financial Transactions Reporting Act No. 6 of 2006 and the Designated Non-Finance Business (Customer Due Diligence) Rules No. 1 of 2018. For any order at or above the equivalent of USD 15,000, we are required to verify your identity (government-issued ID) and may ask for a source-of-funds declaration before the order can be fulfilled. We will not release a stone for an order at or above this threshold until that due diligence is complete, and we may decline an order where it cannot be completed to our satisfaction.
9. Intellectual property
All text, images, and certificates presented on the site (other than the underlying laboratory reports themselves) belong to Ceylon Vault or its licensors. You may view and download content for your own personal, non-commercial reference; reproducing, mirroring, or commercially reusing site content without our written permission is not permitted.
10. Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Sri Lankan law, such as liability for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you arising from any order is capped at the price you paid for that order, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. The site and its content are provided “as is”; while we take reasonable care to keep listings accurate, we do not guarantee the site will be error-free or uninterrupted.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from an order or these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection right you may have in your own country of residence that cannot be excluded by agreement.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time; the version in force at the time you place an order is the one that applies to it. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date below.
